ASSEMBLY OF CONDUITS

Conduit sections have a 'spigot' (male) end which fits inside the opposite 'bell' (female) end of adjacent parts. Spring clips secure the joint. A neoprene gasket can be fitted to provide water or gas resistance.
Note: Multiduc is approved by Network Rail for installation either with or without the neoprene gasket.

1. Place a wooden block of approximately 100mm under the bell end of the last installed section of conduit.
2. Insert spigot of next conduit section into the raised bell end. Lubricate with dilute washing up liquid if necessary. Be sure the gasket (if required) is properly located .
3. Raise free end of conduit to close top of joint and place clip on top side of joint.
4. Push down on free end with moderate force until bottom of joint is fully seated. The side clips can now be placed by moving the free end of the conduit toward each side as the clip is placed. The bottom clip can be placed in the same manner by pushing down on the free end or sliding the clip around from the side.
5. Remove wood block from under conduit and proceed to next section.
Assembly Procedure Above the Trench Multiduc can be pre-assembled in longer than unit lengths (2-4 units) above the trench as conditions allow. Pre-assembly is accomplished by similar methods or by standing a section of conduit on end with the bell up and inserting the spigot (with gasket if required) of the next unit into place. Fix four clips, one on each side, on the mated joint.
